The HI 832742 is a portable photometer for measuring total phenols, color density and tint of a liquid. These types of meters are often used in the beverage making process, especially in wine and beer production.
The photometer is equipped with three optical channels, each with a specialized tungsten light source and a narrow band interference filter (420 nm, 525 nm, 610 nm). The meter automatically calculates color density, tint and total phenols, eliminating the need for time consuming calculations.
Color density range is 0.000 to 1.000 (white, + or - 5%) and 0.00 to 15.00 (red, + or - 4%). Tint range is 0.00 to 9.99 (white), 0.00 to 9.99 (red), + or - 4%. Phenol range is 0.000 to 0.750 (white) and 0.00 to 5.00 (red). The device operates on four 1.5 V AA batteries or a 12 VDC adapter. Dimensions are 225 x 85 x 80 mm and it weighs 500 g.
Photometers for color density and phenols are used in the beverage making process to ensure quality and preferred taste. Phenolic compounds are measured in the winemaking process because they affect the color, odor, and reduce the oxygen content of wine.
Hanna Instruments manufactures a wide variety of analytical instrumentation, including pH meters, multi-parameter meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. Founded in 1978, Hanna is headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, with subsidiaries in 32 countries. Hanna Instruments holds many firsts in the field of analytical instrumentation, including a pH electrode with a built-in temperature sensor, an electronic pocket-sized pH tester, and a replaceable electrode pH pocket tester. To ensure the quality of its products, Hanna is a vertically integrated manufacturer and does not subcontract any part of its manufacturing.
